Twice a year, every grade spends a week together off-campus. These Outdoor Education experiences, which become more challenging as students progress through the school, encourage students to find new depths of perseverance, to take risks and to adapt to their changing environment. Along the way, they learn the value of teamwork and establish enduring friendships.
New Grade 7 and 9 students start off their Â鶹ÊÓƵ experience by building bonds with peers at Camp Arowhon.
In Grade 12, the focus of the Fall Outdoor Education experience turns to leadership. Students have the option to act as mentors for younger students at Camp Arowhon or Camp Tawingo, or to earn their whitewater and wilderness first aid certifications at the Madawaska Kanu Centre.
In Winter, the weather conditions add another element to the excursions, giving students another opportunity to face new challenges as they traverse the wilderness on cross-country skis or try ice climbing.
In Grade 8, our students visit Quebec and Ottawa for experiential learning activities with curricular connections.
Our Outdoor Education program takes students outside for shared experiences, community building and facing challenges together to build lifelong connections.
